Sex Wizardry (the site) is a project that was born out of a desire to share the things I was writing in my first book. 

I wanted to give at least some exposure to all the things I was writing down in minute detail. Knowing that those who want even more detail will just go and buy the book, I figured its only right to let information be free, and to share knowledge I’ve gained in the best way I know how.

The book, however, came about purely by accident. I was redoing my tinder profile and feeling very confused about all the conflicting information I was gathering about what makes a good profile; So I asked my ex-girlfriend for help (we have a solid friendship to this day). She gave me some incredible advice, and stunning insights, so I told her she should write a book for men on how to make a killer dating app profile. I also facetiously added that I’ll write the companion book (also for men) “how to be good in bed – tips and tricks from Dristan”. 

“Yeah, do it” was her only reply. Stunned, I told her no I can’t write a book like that, I’m no authority on sex. “Don’t care, I want to read it”. 

Again, stunned, I told a friend of mine what my ex just said to me. He wasn’t much help either; “ooo, I’d buy that book”. This man is an author, and generally a person I hugely respect. Hearing two people I have a great deal of respect for tell me the same thing, got me started thinking back on times I’ve been complemented by partners, and what they’ve said.

The result was I told them both I’d make a table of contents; everything I could think of that I might be able to write about. It was 2 full A4 pages long in size 10 font, and took me a full hour to write. Sitting back and looking at what I’d made at 11pm was when I said “shit, there might be something here”. 

More than a year and a half later, and the book was still being written, and I was only just figuring out how much I needed a blog. 

The rest (as they say) is history, or in this case, what you see here in this blog. 

As for who *I* am, Dristan, well…I’m just some guy that has had a couple of partners here and there, someone who likes figuring out how things work, has an intense interest in ‘practical’ psychology and reading body language, and got one too many complements to let the self doubt stop him from writing a book and making a website. 🙂
